WFT 2024 HEDGELAYING CHAMPIONSHIP

All welcome, free entry and free parking on site for competitors.

 

Class 1: Beginners Pairs – pairs to cut and lay up to 8 metres

Class 2: Intermediate – to cut and lay up to 8 metres

Class 3: Open – to cut and lay up to 10 metres

 

PRIZES:

 

Each class will be awarded 1st Prize £50, 2nd Prize £30, 3rd Prize £20, and WFT 2024 Hedgelaying Championship winners' certificates. Each competitor/pair will also get a £15 cutting fee and a certificate of participation.

COMPETITION TERMS:

Class 1 & 2 are open to anyone with a knowledge of hedgelaying who has not been placed in any open competition. Class 3 is open to all. 

Hedges are to be cut Midland style. Stakes and binders will be provided by the Wychwood Forest Trust. 

 

Tea, coffee and bacon rolls will also be provided for all competitors.

Closing date for entries 10th October 2024. 

CHAINSAWS & SAFETY:

Competitors may use chainsaws provided they wear personal protection equipment (PPE) to current standards: chainsaw trousers, boots, helmet and gloves. The organisers carry public liability insurance but have no insurance for personal accidents and cannot accept responsibility for any such accidents. Competitors are reminded that by entering the competition you have agreed to comply with current Health and Safety regulations when using a chainsaw and can provide a certificate of competency if requested to do so. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

Please e-mail maeve@wychwoodforesttrust.co.uk, putting HEDGELAYING COMP 2024 as the subject line, and in the body of your email please include name, address, mobile number and which class is being entered. If you wish to enter the Beginners Pairs class and do not have a partner, please let us know when you apply - we may be able to pair you up with another beginner. Closing date for entries is 10th October 2024.
